Document Description
The California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CDF) proposes to lease approximately 9 acres of land in the southeast corner of the Ukiah Municipal Airport for the relocation of its existing Air Attack Base facilities. Current Base facilities are located within the west central portion of the Ukiah Municipal Airport. The proposed project is designed to be a replacement for the existing Base with facility upgrades to provide safer and more efficient operations. While the operation of the airbase will have the same level of personnel, aircraft and equipment assigned as now, the number of planes that can be loaded during a major fire event will increase from two at a time to four at a time. As a result, fire fighting capabilities will be improved due to reduced response time. Ownership of the existing facilities will revert to the airport.
