The Elverta Road Widening project includes the following: 1. Widen Elverta Rd from Watt Ave to Dutch Haven Blvd to accommodate a total of 4 traffic lanes, 2 lanes in each direction using rubberized asphalt for noise. 2. Restrip Elverta Rd from Dutch Haven Blvd to ~300 ft east of Rivergreen Drive. 3. Install a fully landscaped, raised center median. 4. Install 6 ft wide Class II bike lanes and improvements for ADA compliance. 5. Construct new roadside ditches and driveway culverts on the north and south sides of Elverta Road. 6. Modify traffic signals at the intersection of Elverta Rd and 28th St. 7. Construct sound barriers and/or headwall/retaining walls as necessary. 8. Remove the exisitng 2 lane Elverta Bridge at Dry Creek. 9. Construct a new reinforced concrete bridge with bicycle, equestrian and pedestrian facilities above the 100 yr flood elevation. (Although the roadway will only be striped to 4 lanes, the bridge will be constructed to its ultimate 6 lane width, consistent with the General Plan). 10. The project will minimize impacts to migrating salmon and steelhead by avoiding in-channel construction during peak migration period (November through May); and adhere to best management practices to protect water quality.
