Document Description
The California Department of Fish and Game is executing a Lake and Streambed Alteration Agreement pursuant to Section 1602 of the Fish and Game Code to the project applicant. Caltrans proposes to conduct a subsurface investigation consisting of vertical rotary borings required to assess foundation conditions for the proposed Santa Maria Bridge widening. Approximately 20-31 borings, 4 inches in diameter and not to exceed 150 feet in depth, will be drilled at various locations within the project footprint. Drilling the holes will require the use of drilling mud, either water mixed with bentonite clay or polymer. Polymer will not be used for the test borings located in the river channel. The holes will be instrumented and sealed to monitor ground water levels and later backfilled. Drilling spoils will be removed from the property for analysis.
