Document Description
DWR is the lead agency for the planning and construction of this project, which addresses one of the critical levee sites in need of emergency repairs pursuant to the Governor's proclamation. The project site, known as Site 15 SAC 141.5R (Site), is approximately 1,865 linear feet in length with a total project footprint of approximately 4.11 acres. DWR has approved the construction of emergency levee repairs at the Site and has advertised a construction contract for the needed repairs. In general, the erosion damage at the Site consists of scour, surface erosion, slumping, undermining or a combination of these.

As a result of the imminent threat of catastrophic levee failure, Governor Arnold Scharzenegger declared a state of emergency for California's levee system on February 24, 2006. The emergency repairs specified for this project are necessary (1) to maintain the levee system which is essential to protecting public health, safety, and welfare and (2) to prevent an emergency from a catastrophic levee failure.
