Western Area Power Administration (Western) and Sacramento Municipal Utility District (SMUD) propose that Western construct 31 to 38 miles of new, double-circuit 230-kilovolt (kV) transmission line between Western's O'Banion Substation and the area just south of SMUD's Elverta Substation and reconstruct SMUD's existing 230-kV/115-kV transmission line between SMUD's Elverta and Natomas Substations.
