Document Description
The Final EIR for the Vulcan operations (certified by the City of Irwindale on January 24, 2008) included three sites - the Durbin Quarry, Reliance I Landfill, and the Reliance I Quarry. The Final EIR noted that a portion of the Reliance I Quarry lied within the City of Azusa, outside of the City of Irwindale's jurisdiction. The present proposal to treat the quarry under a single jurisdiction for purposes of mining and reclamation was made in response to a recommendation of the Department of Conservation, Office of Mine Reclamation, since the physical configuration does not warrant treating the quarry as two separate mines. Therefore the proposed change covered by the Addendum to the FEIR is to add the Azusa portion (51.56 acres) to the total project footprint. The reclamation Plan has been amended to include this additional area as well.
