Document Description
The California Department of Fish and Game is executing a Lake and Streambed Alteration Agreement, pursuant to Section 1602 of the Fish and Game Code, to the Project applicant. Caltrans proposes to widen the existing shoulder of SR 41 to 8 feet. To accommodate this, the pipe inlet in the Arroyo del Paso drainage on the west side of SR 41 must be extended 14.8 feet. Rock Slope Protection (RSP) and RSP fabric will be placed in the Arroyo del Paso drainage to reduce erosion west of SR 41. The Project will not affect any vegetation in the Arroyo de Paso drainage. Construction equipment will need to enter the channel, but no water will be present when work is done. One pre-construction survey specifically for San Joaquin kit fox (SJKF) and two pre-construction surveys specifically for blunt-nosed leopard lizards (BNLL) are proposed for the entire Kettleman City Rehabilitation Project. A total of 75.4 acres of compensatory mitigation will be acquired for permanent and temporary impacts to potential habitat for SJKF and BNLL as required by the Programmatic Biological Opinion.
