Document Description
Several energy dissipation benches in the LL Anderson Dam spill channel sustained some erosion damage due to flows in the spillway in May 2005. This was the first spill since major modifications were made to the spillway in 1999. Repairs to the benches will consist of some loose rock excavation, installation of rockbolts, and placement of dental concrete. Small spring flows in the spillway will be diverted so that the work can be done in dry conditions. Also, vertical borings will be done in several locations in the spillway walls, invert, and on the dam itself, to obtain core samples and engineering data for the future spillway design. The work is planned for 2006 or 2007, after consultation with the Tahoe National Forest, which will include environmental protection measures, and after authorization to proceed from FERC.
