Notice of Exemption

Exempt Status
Categorical Exemption
Type, Section or Code
Section 15301(a)
Reasons for Exemption
This project involves operational and maintenance repairs to an existing sewerage facility to meet current standards of public health and safety. The project scope involves repairs and alterations to an existing facility involving negligible or no expansion of use beyond existing uses. The addition of a new prescreening structure will not result in an increase of more than 10,000 square feet. The environmental analysis completed for the original prison in the SATF/SP at Corcoran EIR supports the conclusion that the area in which the project is located on the prison grounds is not environmentally sensitive. No new staff is required to operate the facility.
