The Palo Verde Solid Waste Site (PVSWS) has been operated by the Imperial County Public Works Department since 1970 and has an estimated closure date of 2029, but is scheduled for closure early in 2007. This early closure date was agreed to between the California Integrated Waste Management Board (CIWMB) and the County of Imperial.
