Notice of Exemption

Exempt Status
Categorical Exemption
Type, Section or Code
Section 15302, 15332
Reasons for Exemption
Based on the State CEQA Guidelines, a project may be considered exempt from CEQA if that project consists of: (a) replacement of an existing structure and facilities where the new structure will be located on the same site as the structure replaced and will have substantially the same purpose and capacity as the structure replaced (Section 15302); and (b) if the project is characterized as in-fill development that is consistent with an adopted campus master plan (Section 15332). The Liberal Arts Replacement Building replaces an existing instructional building with a new structure to support the liberal arts instructional purposes and capacity on the same site. The replacement building is consistent with the adopted physical master plan for the University.
