The Bottle Rock geothermal field, located at The Geysers, shut down in 1991 after six years of service due to the declining steam production. It is now proposed to reopen this facility and restore power generation by using new drilling technology that has successfully been employed by the oil industry to increase production. The project is expected to increase the amount of electricity being generated at The Geysers geothermal field by 4 megawatts over the next 15 years.
