This proposal seeks GRDA funds to complete the well and to expand, deepen and test it. The cost sharing with DOE would share the financial risk, increase the likelihood of completion of the well with a successsful outcome, increase the value of data attainable from the well, and decrease the cost of a development project, should one follow drilling.

Reasons for Exemption
All federal permitting and environmental compliance requirements have been completed for this exploration drilling project. This includes obtaining from DOE/NEPA a Categorical Exclusion Determination, based on the completed Environmental Checklist and review of biological and archeological surveys. The NEPA Categorical Exclusion Determination for this project is NEPA Categorical Exclusion B3.7, (Siting, construction, and operation of new infill exploratory and experimental (test) oil, gas, and geothermal wells, which are to be drilled in a geological formation that has existing operating wells). This exclusion is consistent with CEQA Categorical Exemption Class 1, Paragraph 15301. Existing Facilities.
