Reasons for Exemption
This activity involves the installation of solar collectors to heat water at an existing facility. The solar collectors will be installed in a dirt field next to the facility. The installation involves the insertion of concrete supports approximately three feet into the ground. Water is the only substance being pumped through the solar collectors. The existing industrial facility already has truck traffic, and the few trucks needed to carry the solar collectors to the site will not appreciably increase this traffic. The solar collectors will partially offset natural gas currently used to generate steam in an existing boiler inside the industrial facility. It can be seen with certainty that there is no possibility that this activity will have a significant effect on the environment, which means that this activity is not subject to CEQA.
