Document Description
The Turlock Irrigation District's proposed Regional Surface Water Supply Project would construct facilities to treat and deliver Tuolumne River water for use by communities that currently rely exclusively on groundwater for urban water needs. These communities include Ceres, Hughson, Keyes, south Modesto and Turlock. The proposed project would construct a water treatment plant near the intersection of Geer Road and Hatch Road, which is near Hughson in unincorporated Stanislaus County. The project would deliver treated water to the participating communities by constructing new pipelines between the proposed plant and those communities within existing roadways and canal rights-of-way. Water would be diverted between the proposed plant and those communities primarily within existing roadways and canal rights-of-way. Water would be diverted from the river and delivered to the proposed water treatment plant site using existing and planned facilities associated with the Infiltration Gallery at Special Run Pool 9 Project.
