Document Description
The proposed permitting action is renewal of the Pacific Scientific Energetic Materials Company RCRA Hazardous Waste Permit for an additional ten years. The permit includes storage and treatment of explosive and flammable hazardous waste. The permit includes four hazardous waste management units currently in operation: an open burn and open detonation treatment unit, a open burn treatment unit for contaminated solvents, a roofed drum storage unit, and an evaporation treatment unit for contaminated solvents. Minor changes from the previous permit include reduction of daily and annual maximums for Unit 1 and Unit 2, updates to monitoring programs including the installation of one groundwater monitoring well at Unit 1 and routine monitoring to check for signs of contamination and ongoing assessment to identify any feasible technologies that may more effectively treat hazardous waste and any related emissions.
