Document Description
This proposed project involves use of controlled livestock grazing to enhance the habitat of the Covered Species. The Project will install and maintain 18 livestock water troughs, 8 water storage tanks, approx. 8 linear miles of water pipeline, a new solar pump to replace the existing, electric pump, and install approx. 2,100 linear feet of fencing on Contra Costa Water District's Corral Hollow Conservation property. The Project will also construct a minimum of 16 soil mounds to create habitat for small mammals that will burrow and create habitat and provide prey for the Covered Species. Project will result in permanent impacts to 0.1 acres and temporary impacts to 2.8 acres of habitat for CA tiger salamander (Abystoma californiense) and San Joaquin kit fox (Vulpes macrotis mutica). The project is expected to result in incidental take of CA tiger salamander and San Joaquin kit fox, which are designated as a threatened species under CESA. The ITP referenced above as issued by CDFW authorizes incidental take of species listed under CESA that may occur as a result of project implementation.
