Document Description
Th e Templeton Community Services District proposed a change (project change) to its operation of its existing Creekside river well. TCSD's Creekside river well, its installation and the extraction of Salinas River underflow from it, were environmentally evaluated in the Mitigated Negative Declaration for the Templeton Community Services District River and Groundwater Wells Project (MND), which was approved by TCSD on February 7, 2006. TCSD does not propose any physical change or modification to its Creekside river well or any other new construction in relation thereto. Instead, it proposes to utilize the existing well to recapture treated wastewater and Nacimiento Project water discharged to percolation ponds at TCSD's Selby property. The water discharged to these ponds wouls percolate into the underflow of the Salinas River and would travel a distance of about 2.0 miles to the Creekside river well where it would be retrieved, less an adjustment for conveyance loss. The travel time would be about 35 months. The discharge of the treated wastewater and the Nacimiento Project water at the Selby percolation ponds and the recapture of that water at TCSD's downstream Smith river well were previously environmentally reviewed and approved. The Creekside river well is about .5 mile downstream from the Smith river well. As a consequence, the only change proposed by TCSD, not previously environmentally reviewed, is to recapture the treated wastewater and Nacimiento Project water at the Creekside river well instead of or in conjunction with the Smith river well.
