Reasons for Exemption
This Prop. 40 project will reduce the risk of catastrophic wildfire that would result in significant water quality degradation of the following watersheds: Upper Truckee River, Heavenly Valley, Lower Cold Creek, Hell Hole, Saxon Creek, Truckee Marsh, Glen Alpine, General Creek, Meeks Creek, Lonely Gulch and Cascade Creek. Fuels to be treated will be removed by hand and placed adjacent to county roads for chipping. No heavy equipment will be used to remove or move material to be chipped. Therefore categorizing the project as exempt from CEQA.
No soil or vegetation will be disturbed that will result in sediment translocation to any of the above mentioned watersheds. As the project will be confined to county roads and subdivided areas, wildlife disturbance within these urban areas will not be a concern. Nor are any rare or endangered plant species known to exist or have been observed within the project area.
