Document Description
The Removal Action Workplan (RAW) was prepared to address the remediation of waste, predominantly mine waste rock (MWR) from historical mining activities at the Site, as a component of a Voluntary Cleanup Agreement between Bear River Development Company (BRDC) and the Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC). The RAW identified the media of concern for the Site. These were" - Arsenic in Mine Waste Rock at the Galena, Bullion, Valley Veneer, and Bear River Mill areas. - Arsenic and lead in suspected mine mill tailings at the Valley Veneer area, and - Arsenic in the eight waste piles at the Bear River Mill area.

Reasons for Exemption
1. The project is a removal action consistent with the limitations of Title 14 Cal., Code Regs., section 15330 with an estimated cost of $406,000. Neither a hazardous waste incinerator nor a thermal treatment unit will be used as part of the remedy. The site does not contain any structures and no volatile organic compounds have been detected at the Site. 2. The Site is not on a list compiled pursuant to section 65962.5 of the Government Code. 3. DTSC will be overseeing the project to ensure all work is done according to applicable or relevant and appropriate requirements (ARARs).
