Document Description
NCWF has a state prison which housed up to 800 female inmates and employed approximately 261 people. NCWF has not been used since 2003. CDCR is planning to reopen the NCWF in Stockton for use as a training center to address the current shortage of correctional officers statewide. The shortage has resulted in additional overtime cost and jeapordizes inmate and staff safety. Training sessions at the Academy will be limited to 200 cadets per session and two sessions at any one time. The first training session will start in mid-November, 2005. Each class runs 16 weeks and new classes will begin every 8 weeks. Cadets would be housed in existing facilities onsite. Approximately 150 staff would be needed to operate the training center.
