Document Description
Stabilize and reconstruct the foundation, floor, walls and roof of the Vernon Horse Barn within Marshall Gold Discovery State Historic Park (SHP). Work will: replace portions of the structure framing and siding, replace the roof and repair the foundation. Following restoration, two removable, climate controlled artifact storage units will be installed in the structure. Unit installation will require installing a concrete pad for an HVAC unit that will service the storage units and excavating a trench for utility lines to supply electricity to the HVAC unit. All repairs to the structure will be consistent with the Secretary of Interior's Standards for the Treatment of Historic Properties, including replacing materials "in kind." A qualified archaeologist will monitor any excavation conducted as part of the project.
