Document Description
The Operator proposes to alter the streambed and banks by the reconstruction and restoration of Morning Canyon channel through the use of grade control structures. Seven grade control structures are proposed along the canyon to restore the stream invert to its original grade, and to establish an equilibrium slope to prevent future erosion and bank failures. The grade control structures are proposed to be rock-filled gabion baskets. Each structure would include a 3-foot vertical drop height, and a length of approximately 35 feet. The banks of the gabion structures vary from 5 feet to 6 feet in height, and are designed to contain the flow from a 100-year frequency storm event. The voids in the rock-filled gabion baskets are proposed to be backfilled with soil and re-vegetated to restore the canyon to a more natural channel system.
