Document Description
The project consists of routing C&D waste to the relocated wood and green waste processing area for minor sorting. It is anticipated that the majority of the C&D waste will be wood waste. The sorting will be to remove materials such as metal boards, plastic, cardboard, concrete, and sheetrock. The wood waste will then be processed, generally to be sold as biomass fuel. The residual materials from the sorting process will be recycled or hauled to the landfill for disposal.

Reasons for Exemption
Under Section 15301 of the CEQA Guidelines, projects that consist of the minor alteration of existing facilities which do not result in an expansion of the use beyond that existing are categorically exempt from further CEQA review. There will be no increase in the amount of C&D waste over what is currently processed. There will be no increase in noise because the waste will be processed with previously reviewed and approved equipment. Misters will be installed to help control dust. Litter will controlled by a litter fence. The area is basically screened from off site view by berms and existing trees.
