Document Description
The California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) has executed Lake and Streambed Alteration Agreement (EPIMS-CCA-30807-R3), pursuant to Fish and Game Code section 1602, to the project Applicant (East Contra Costa Habitat Conservation Agency, as represented by Abigail Fateman). The project will replace two existing culverts (Culverts 101 and 102) under an unpaved dirt access road in the Irish Canyon Preserve. The two culverts are undersized and failing, causing the dirt access road to be undermined and at risk of failure. The culverts will be replaced and expanded to accommodate flows, and rock slope protection (RSP) will be placed to stabilize the inlets and outlets and maintain the road. No trees will be removed to complete the work. Following project activities, all disturbed areas will be restored and stabilized via appropriate erosion control measures. Culvert 101 will be replaced in kind (30-inch diameter by 20-foot-long) and a 2-foot-long by 7-foot-wide headwall will be installed at the upstream inlet. A 7-foot-long by 7-foot-wide tail wall/energy dissipator will be installed with RSP placed in a scour hole at the downstream outlet. A total of approximately 300 ft2 of RSP will be placed at the inlet and outlet. Culvert 102 will be upsized from 36-inch diameter by 14-foot-long to 36-inch diameter by 25-foot-long culvert. At the upstream end, the channel will be filled by 10 feet. This includes 5 feet length of the new edge of road and 5 feet of headwall length. The headwall will be 7 feet wide. At the downstream end, a 6-feet-long by 6-feet-wide tail wall/energy dissipator will be installed with RSP. A total of approximately 180 ft2 of RSP will be placed at the inlet and outlet.
