Document Description
The project includes rezoning of approximately 2.3 acres of land within the Rivermark-Agnews West Campus Planned Development-Master Community Zoning area. The property is currently identified as Planning Area 24 in the Planned Development-Master Community Zoning (PD-MC), which is designated and zoned for Public/Quasi-Public uses. The proposed rezoning will allow for Medium Density Residential uses (14-25 dwelling units per acre). The proposed project is anticipated to include approximately 59 dwelling units and would provide for development at the upper end of the proposed density range. The proposed project also includes demolition of an existing 29,400 square foot building. The City of Santa Clara owns property adjacent to the 2.3-acre site. An electrical substation and access road are planned on this property by the City of Santa Clara's municipal utility, Silicon Valley Power. Under one project scenario, a 40-foot wide, approximately 0.2 acre strip of the City property east of the site would be used as a shared access and/or as an emergency vehicle access (EVA) for the proposed residential project. Under a second project scenario, none of the City property may be used as access to the site, whereby up to 4 units could be removed from the 59-unit project. The Draft EIR will address one of these two project scenarios as the proposed project in the Draft EIR.
