Document Description
The Kern High School District (KHSD, as Lead Agency) has proposed the expansion of the existing Mira Monte High School campus to allow for the operation of an Agricultural Learning Center (ALC) (modified Project), within the City of Bakersfield city limits. The site encompasses approximately 18 acres of an undeveloped parcel directly adjacent on the south side of the existing Mira Monte High School (Assessor’s Parcel Number 173-240-17). The proposed Project will include two classroom spaces utilized for agricultural science lab space, poultry barn, outdoor learning spaces, three animals holding pens, a wash stall, an exercise arena, and a shaded sitting area that will provide teachers an outdoor space and storage enclosed storage unit. The new modular building and associated structures will total approximately 11,000 square feet. The Project as proposed expansion will not increase the overall student or faculty population but provides for additional vocational educational opportunities. The Mira Monte Comprehensive High School was proposed in 2004 and a Mitigated Negative Declaration was prepared by the District (SCH 200509106) and was adopted on January 19, 2006. The proposed modified project is similar in nature to the approved project in all material respects, only smaller in size and scope, and therefore less impactful. The modified project is adjacent to and directly south of the approved project. The changes to the approved project are referred to herein as the “proposed modified project” or “proposed project modifications.” This Addendum has been prepared to determine whether the proposed modified project would result in new or substantially more severe significant environmental impacts compared with the impacts disclosed in the previously adopted IS/MND. The analysis of the proposed modified project indicates that there are no greater impacts created by the modified project in relation to the approved project; the modified project has either less impacts or similar impacts, and no new mitigation measures are required.
