BART is conducting a comprehensive seismic retrofit program of its system in anticipation of a potential future major earthquake. The project area is located in the cities of Oakland and San Francisco, California. There would be no increase in capacity (number of BART trains or ridership) as a result of the seismic retrofit, and substantial changes in BART service are not expected to result during or as a result of the retrofit.
