Project located on land managed by the United States Forest Service (USFS), Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit (LTBMU).
Document Description
The project is being proposed by the Tahoe Rim Trail Association (TRTA) upon land managed by the United States Forest Service (USFS) Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit (LTBMU). TRTA is responsible for the maintenance and operation of the Tahoe Rim Trail. The Tahoe Rim Trail is a multiple use trail that circumnavigates Lake Tahoe. The existing trail passes directly through the creek creating unstable water quality due to the sediment contribution and trail user safety concerns. Additionally, during snowmelt and wet periods, Ward Creek becomes swollen with near freezing runoff posing a danger to trail users. The project proposes to decommission and restore the existing route by replacing the creek crossing with a bridge over Ward Creek to accommodate the many types of users.
