Document Description
The California Department of Fish and Wildlife has executed Lake and Streambed Alteration Agreement number 1600-2018-0162-R5, pursuant to section 1602 of the Fish and Game Code to the project applicant, The Metropolitan Water District of Southern California (MWD). The project consists of dewatering discharges to support future repairs and routine inspections of the 17.8 mile Foothill Feeder. To permit the entrance of workers in the pipeline for inspection, MWD will conduct vegetation removal at several locations, shutoff water entering the pipeline stage construction equipment, dewater the pipeline, and then conduct maintenance activities. MWD will discharge water at lower elevation locations (i.e. blow off sites) to drain the upper elevations of the Foothill Feeder pipeline and pump out water remaining in the pipeline below the blow-off sites. Additional impacts include potential incidental take of unarmored three-spine stickleback and potential impacts associated with the establishment of unarmored three-spine stickleback mitigation.
