Document Description
Install a shade house near the Odello Barn in the Carmel Lagoon Enhancement project area within Carmel River State Beach. The shade house will be used to protect propagated native seedlings and harden them off prior to planting, and is designed as a temporary structure that will be removed within 5 years. The structure will be 20 feet wide by 60 feet long by 10 feet high. Shade cloth will be supported by a system of aluminum poles and cable. Fifty-four concrete footings will be installed to anchor the structure. To ensure that the structure is completely reversible, these footings will be pre-formed and surface mounted, as opposed to excavated into the ground. This option will allow for the relocation of the structure should funding become available to restore the adjacent historic Odello Barn. The site was cultivated agricultural land until 1998.
