- Document Description
- DTSC is proposing to approve a removal action work plan and Action Memorandum that would allow for the excavation and offsite disposal of waste materials buried in a trench at Site 23. Pesticides and explosives have been detected in the soil adjacent to the trench, and in waste material within the trench. Ground water has also been contaminated with pesticides and benzene. The purpose of the removal action is to remove a potential ecological risk should the contaminants migrate from the trench, and to remove a source of groundwater contamination. This is an interim action to remove the source of contamination. The action will include the collection of one-time grab groundwater samples from temporary wells to evaluate ground water contamination. Depending on the results of the groundwater sampling, further evaluation of the site may be conducted at a later date. The field activities associated with the removal action will take approximately two weeks.
