Reasons for Exemption
The two proposed structures are located on the same existing site and will have substantially the same purpose and capacity as the structures to be replaced.
The new Central Plant replaces the existing Central Plant and the building where laundry is processed, both of which are currently situated on Washington Hospital's parcel. Although slightly larger in its overall footprint, the new unified laundry and Central Plant facility will continue to service the same power and laundry needs of the hospital as it fluctuates from time to time dur to patient populations.
The new Center for Joint Replacement (CJR) replaces the existing CJR and the Whitaker Pavilion, both of which are currently situated on Washington Hospital's site. Although slightly smaller in its overall footprint, this new CJR will continue to serve the same patient population as it has historically.
