Document Description
El Dorado Irrigation District, in collaboration with the US Bureau of Reclamation, proposes to construct facilities on the bank of Folsom Lake to withdraw water from the warm upper reaches of the lake while preserving the cold water pool at the bottom of the lake to protect downstream aquatic species. The facilities will include a large diameter concrete lined vertical shaft and five lined horizontal adits extending from the shaft. This structure, known as a Temperature Control Device (TCD) will replace the District's five existing raw pump casings that currently extract water from Folsom Lake at a rate of 19.5 MGD. The new facility will be sized to accommodate a maximum extraction rate of 74 MGD over an 18-hr period, which is equivalent to 52 MGD.
