Document Description
The proposed project will provide additional disposal capacity for hazardous waste at KHF by providing a vertical and lateral expansion of the existing hazardous waste landfill (B-18) and a new hazardous waste landfill (B-20). Expansion of the B-18 Landfill would provide approximately 4.8 million cubic yards of additional airspace, achieved by construction of lined berms around the existing landfill. The modified B-18 Landfill will cover ~64 acres and raise the final elevation of the landfill from 965 feet to approximately 1,018 feet above mean sea level. The B-20 Landfill will have a footprint of ~63 acres and provide ~14.3 million cy of gross airspace. This landfill is planned to be operational when the B-18 Landfill reaches capacity. Under the proposed project, hazardous waste and other routine operations will continue 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
