Document Description
The area proposed for the creek restoration and public access improvement project extends from the west side of the Strawflower Shopping Center east to Highway 1, a distance of approximately 1/3 mile. The City owns or holds open space easements on all of the properties that encompass the riparian corridor in this area. The proposed project will restore degraded riparian habitat on the City-owned riparian parcels. It will construct a key connection to the Pilarcitos Creek Trail and provide environmental interpretation/education installations regarding coastal riparian habitat. It will provide facilities to support low-intensity recreational use of the sites, including benches, picnic tables, and a restroom. It will also include a tot lot to serve the adjacent low-income, high-density neighborhood.
