The project proposes to restore 1,325 feet of the eroded sections of the levee and then place armor stone to absorb wave action and protect the slope from future erosion. The replacement of fill in the eroded areas is necessary in order to re-establish the full cross-section of the levee and thus reduce the amount of water seepage and the potential for levee failure.
