Present Land Use
The project site is currently vacant, zoned P (Public) within a 90-X height and bulk district, and within the Mid-Market St. Revitalization and Conservation District. The project building has multiple historic ratings including being a National Historic Landmark, individually listed on the National Register of Historic Places, and designated as a City Landmark.
Document Description
The proposed project is the rehabilitation plus seismic upgrade and addition to the United States Old Mint. The approximately 100,000-gross square foot (gsf) building is proposed for use as a City History Museum (approximately 30,000 gsf) with secondary uses being retail (restaurant, bar, and gift shops) and office uses (approximately 74,000 gsf). Elevators may be added in the building, including ADA-compliant elevators with access from Fifth Street. The project would include closure of Jessie Street to vehicles, between Mint and Fifth Streets, to be used for outdoor restaurant seating.
