Document Description
Construct a soundwall, varying in height from 4.3 to 4.9 meters, on the northbound side of I-5, from 70 m south of Avenida Vaquero to south of San Clemente Hospital, in the city of San Clemente. Excavation for pile-driving could extend up to 5 m below the ground surface. An existing soundwall north of the undercrossing at Avenue Vaquero would be removed as it does not provide adequate noise reduction.

The project proposes to construct a soundwall along northbound I-5, where existing peak-hour noise levels were measured at up to 75.7 dBA, exceeding noise abatement criteria of FHWA and Caltrans. No right of way is needed. No environmental impact is anticipated, other than noise reduction.
