Document Description
As party of the statewide Seismic Safety Program, the project proposes to replace the Ten Mile River Bridge with a new bridge that would be earthquake resistant and scour resistant. After completion of the project, it is expected that the Ten Mile River Bridge would be able to withstand a maximum credible earthquake on the San Andreas fault.

According to Section 180.2 of the California Streets and Highways Code, as amended, "the structural modification of an existing highway structure or toll bridge, or replacement of a highway structure or toll bridge within, or immediately adjacent to, an existing right-of-way" are excempt from CEQA, and shall be considered "specific actions necessary to prevent or mitigate an emergency", a statutory exemption under Public Resources Code Section 21080(b)(4).
