Document Description
The purpose of the project is to reduce episodic and chronic sediment loading to Lompico Creek. The project is limited to the following activities: reducing sediment loading to the creek from an 830-foot section of the main access road by removing six culverts, outsloping the road and installing a series of rolling dips, one of which will be armored with rock and include a rock swale. One of the project components includes the removal of a failing culvert along the portion of road that is/will no longer be used for vehicle access. This culvert drains a small ephemeral drainage to Lompico Creek and outlets along an actively eroding earthen dam. Stabilization of this project component consists of grading a 260-foot reach of the right bank of Lompico Creek to a less steep configuration, planting the graded areas with native vegetation, removing the culvert on the drainage, re-grading a 74-foot section of the tributary channel, and lining the newly exposed section of the tributary channel with geotextile fabric, rock, gravel and wood materials. The California Department of Fish and Wildlife is executing a Lake and Streambed Alteration Agreement Number 1600-2014-0182-R3 pursuant to Section 1602 of the Fish and Game Code to the project Applicant, Jim Mueller, San Lorenzo Valley Water District.
