Document Description
This project is under the Master Permit issued to the Santa Cruz Co. Resources Conservation Dist. (RCD) to administer the Santa Cruz Countywide Permit Coordination Program, for small, environmentally beneficial projects on private lands in Santa Cruz Co. In the main stem of the San Lorenzo River, there is a boulder cascade formed by two large boulders of approx. 14ft. in diameter that have lodged between bedrock outcrops and no act as a buttress for the accumulation of other smaller boulders. This boulder cascade is a barrier to fish passage. The project Applicant proposes to notch the boulder in the main chute using hand tools. Construction access is limited to foot traffic and tools are limited to those that can be carried to the site. Boulders will be drilled and broken with handheld pneumatic tools. This project is located in Felton, Santa Cruz Co., in Henry Cowell State Park.
