The project involves the rerouting of a 280-foot-long by 8-foot-wide section of the Rim Trail that is located in the Mission Trails Regional Park. The trail reroute covers approximately 0.051 acres. The trail reroute would be moved approximately 30 feet south of the existing trail that currently extends through an existing cluster of vernal pools.

The relocation of a section of the Rim Trail will remove the direct impact that currently exists to a cluster of vernal pools. The biological assessment that was conducted in association with the relocation of the trail indicated that sensitive biological resources would not be impacted with the rerouting of the trail. The relocation proposal was reviewed in accordance with the City of San Diego's Environmentally Sensitive Lands Regulations.
