San Diego RWQCB is issuing a Clean Water Act Section 401 water quality certification (cert. no. R9-2015-0102) to the project applicant, City of San Diego, Transportation and Storm Water Department. The applicant proposes ongoing maintenance of the Alvarado Creek channel in reaches Upper Reach 2, Lower Reach 4, Lower Reach 2B and Lower Reach 2A to restore and maintain channel capacity to provide flood protection to the surrounding businesses, roadways, and properties. The maintenance involves the periodic removal of trash, debris, vegetation and accumulated sediment from the channel.
