The City of Shafter and Shafter Recreation and Park District are working together under a Memorandum of Understanding to purchase private property for future development of a 42.4 acre recreational facility in the City of Shafter. The properties proposed for acquisition total 50.66 acres. The City of Shafter will acquire the parcels with City of Shafter General Funds. The Shafter Recreation and Park District will acquire the southern 42.4 acres from the City of Shafter through a Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF) Grant. An Addendum to the Certified Final Program EIR for the 2005 General Plan Update and related actions was prepared for the City of Shafter and Shafter Recreation and Park District Acquisition of Properties for Park Planning Purposes.
