Document Description
The proposed project would control riparian grazing and revegetated stream banks and floodplains along approximately 3,800 linear feet of Walters Creek. Portions of the bank would be graded to stabilize the slopes and reduce erosion in the stream. Approximately 6,000 linear feet of riparian fencing would be installed along the bank, and new water tanks and other sources would be installed to provide offstream water sources for cattle. Several thousand willow cuttings and other appropriate riparian species would be installed along the stream bank. To reduce sedimentation from several head-cuts along the stream, rock cross vanes, J-hook structures, and logs would be installed in four to five locations along the creek. Excess material generated during installation of the cross vanes would be used as backfill material or disposed of offsite. The California Department of Fish and Game is executing a Lake or Streambed Alteration Agreement Number 1600-2004-0263-3 pursuant to Section 1602 of the Fish and Game Code to the project operator, Mr. Mike Hall/California Polytechnic State University.
