Document Description
The proposed project involves emergency repair work to the southern abutment of the Putah Creek Bridge on Hwy 29 (PM 9.74) approximately 4 miles north of Middletown, Lake County. Seasonal high flows in the 2003/2004 storm season have eroded the bank adjacent to the southern abutment and could potentially undermine the southern abutment if allowed to continue. Caltrans is proposing to reinforce the bridge abutment by armoring approximately 890 meters (262 feet) of the southern bank of Putah Creek upstream of the existing bridge. In addition, Caltrans is proposing to construct three spur dikes approximately 7 meters (7 feet) in length to redirect flow away from the southern abutment during high flow events. The Department of Fish and Game is issuing a Streambed Alteration Agreement Number 1600-2004-0669-3 pursuant to Fish and Game Code Section 1602.
