Document Description
The California Department of Transportation, in cooperation with the Federal Highway Administration and the Transportation Agency for Monterey County, proposes to construct a series of safety and operational improvements along nine miles of State Route 101 north of the City of Salinas in Monterey County. Beginning at the southern end, the proposed project would provide:
-A four-lane, fully access-controlled freeway on a new alignment between 0.18 miles north of the Boronda Road interchange and the intersection of Martines Road.
-Undercrossing structures along a new elevated freeway segment over Russell and Espinosa Roads, connecting the two local roads and allowing through movements from the east and west sides of Route 101. No freeway access to Route 101 would be provided at this location.
-A new local road interchange approximately 0.62 miles north of Russell/Espinosa Road.
-A new local road connecting White Road to Martines Road.
-A cul-de-sac at the intersection of Martines Road and Route 101.
-A new local road extending south from the intersection of Blackie and Prunedale South Roads. The new road would cross over Route 101 approximately 280 meters (919 feet) south of the existing Blackie/Reese and Route 101 intersection and connect to Reese Circle, 85 meters (279 feet) east of Cross Road.
