Document Description
The proposed Washington Park Master Plan outlines plans for the rehabilitation and restoration of portions of this 5.22-acre park. The Master Plan emphasizes the importance of maintaining the park's historic character and the need to enhance the existing feature of the park. The Plan does not propose any major alteration to the fabric of the park. The Community House will contain a meeting room, restrooms, storage space, and a recreation office. When completed, the project will eliminate safety hazards and barriers to access that currently exist in the park. The City anticipates that increased usage of Washington Park may result following implementation of the proposed enhancements. The Master Plan will not increase the hours of use of the park because it does not include any lighting of fields, playgrounds, and courts. New nighttime safety lighting will be provided around the perimeter of the park, and safety lighting will also be installed on the meeting house.
