Document Description
The City of Fontana is considering an application for a Specific Plan Amendment to the Sierra Lakes Specific Plan, including development of a Home Depot retail store and associated commercial and retail uses on a 14-acre site which is bound by I-210 to the south, Sierra Lakes Parkway to the north, Citrus Avenue to the east, and Catawba Avenue to the west.
The City of Fontana City Council will act as the CEQA lead agency for the project in accordance with the California Environmental Quality Act of 1970 statues and implementing State CEQA Guidelines.
The proposed Sierra Lakes Specific Plan Amendment includes changing the existing land use from Recreation Facilities (P-R) to General Commercial (C-3) and adding approximately 2.8 acres of land to the Specific Plan area. The 2.8-acre site is located immediately south of the Sierra Lakes Specific Plan boundary to the west of Citrus Avenue.
The project also proposes the construction of approximately 150,000 square feet of floor area and construction of five pads totaling 23,000 square feet for a proposes Home Depot and associated retail uses including a gas station on 14 acres. The project also involves the removal of an existing community center and a day care center currently located on the site. The community center is proposed to be relocated to a site at Summit Avenue and Lytle Creek Road in the northern part of the City of Fontana.
The proposed project approvals include a design review, a tentative parcel map, a general plan amendment, a zone change, and a specific plan amendment. These documents are on file at the City of Fontana and can be reviewed at the Planning Department during normal business hours.
